Sonus Faber Sonetto III
A harmony of power and elegance.
The most compact floor-standing loudspeaker in the Sonetto G2 Collection, Sonetto III packs impressive power.
A SOUND THAT SURPRISES
With its slender figure and exceptional power, Sonetto III combines design and innovation. A sophisticated 2.5-way system showcases the new flower-patterned suspension mid-woofer, meticulously designed by the Sonus faber DesignLab in Italy. This development process ensures that every aspect of the speaker's performance is carefully honed to deliver an unparalleled listening experience
DECEPTIVELY SLIM, IMPRESSIVELY STRONG
Looks can be deceiving. Despite its slim dimensions, Sonetto III has the commanding presence of a much larger speaker, thanks to advanced technologies and design solutions. Its exquisite aesthetic appeal has been enhanced with a new concrete base, designed for improved structural integrity and effortless installation.
ORGANIC BASKET
Designed and developed in Sonus faber laboratories, the die cast baskets have been designed from scratch specifically for this collection.
CLASSIC DESIGN
The lute shape that characterizes many Sonus faber models has been redesigned to ensure the delivery of the perfect control over internal resonances.
SLENDER YET MIGHTY
Sonetto brings together Sonus faber’s core design principles in an elegant silhouette.
THE VOICE OF SONUS FABER
The distinctive flower design of the midwoofer rubber suspension, working together with the Damped Apex Dome (DAD) soft dome tweeter, defines the iconic "Voice of Sonus faber." Inspired by the power of nature, Sonetto III delivers pure, high-fidelity audio reproduction through our signature Natural Sound.
CONCRETE BASE
With the introduction of a new concrete base, the Sonetto G2 series not only enhances the stability of its speakers but also reinforces their structural integrity. This innovative addition provides a solid foundation that minimizes vibrations and ensures optimal performance, particularly in demanding listening environments.
BINDING POST COVER
The round binding post cover, adorned with the Sonus faber logo and available on all Sonetto G2 models – except Sonetto Wall - serves both a functional and decorative purpose. Designed specifically for bi-wiring binding posts, the cover ensures the integrity of the connections while adding a touch of refinement to the rear panel of the speakers.
PHASE COHERENT
The Phase Coherent Crossover design philosophy implemented in the Sonetto G2 Collection ensures precise synchronization of the drivers' phase rotations, striving for maximum parallelism. This meticulous alignment results in an immersive soundstage that is incredibly defined and palpable, allowing audiophiles to experience music with a heightened sense of realism.

Sonetto III pairs a natural, lucid midrange with airy treble, punchy bass and finely focused imaging in a compact Italian floorstander. HomeTheaterHifi praised its transparency and disappearing act, while Positive Feedback highlighted its expansive staging and composed dynamics. The sculptural lute cabinet, leather detailing and furniture-grade finish complete a speaker as refined visually as it is musically.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Exceptionally clear, natural midrange with neutral tonal balance and airy treble detail.
Produces sharply focused images and a convincing three-dimensional soundstage, disappearing effectively from the room.
Furniture-grade build combines a lute-shaped cabinet, real-wood finish, leather top and robust hardware.
&
Cons
Deep-bass extension is limited for a full-range presentation in larger rooms; a subwoofer may be desirable.
The supplied grilles were found to slightly muddy the sonic presentation.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
Reviewers consistently describe a transparent, tonally neutral and highly composed presentation, distinguished by natural midrange reproduction, refined treble and strong musical insight. Imaging and dynamic expression are widely praised, while bass is punchy and satisfying for the cabinet size rather than truly full-range in larger rooms.
Bass
89/100
The Sonetto III delivers punchy, tight and well-defined bass, with reviewers noting satisfying weight and room-filling vibration on acoustic bass. One reviewer found its deep extension limited on some material and preferred a subwoofer for a fully full-range presentation, although another felt a sub would be unnecessary in a modest-size room.
Mid
94/100
The midrange is a clear highlight. Reviewers praise its exemplary clarity, naturalness and resolution, with one measurement finding it remarkably flat; vocals are described as smooth and lifelike, while piano timbre and overtones come across as unusually convincing.
Treble
92/100
Treble is repeatedly described as airy, detailed and delicate, with useful substance rather than an etched or aggressive edge. Reviewers also report that it remains composed at high volume, though one found the upper range slightly less assertive than the rest of the presentation.
Soundstage Imaging
91/100
Several reviewers found the speakers able to disappear convincingly, producing stable, sharply focused images and a deep, three-dimensional stage. One listener considered stereo spread the relative shortcoming, finding the presentation somewhat introspective rather than extending dramatically beyond the cabinets, but still coherent and well organized.
Dynamics
91/100
The Sonetto III is praised for quick starts and stops, convincing rhythmic drive and strong expression of both subtle harmonic shifts and large changes in intensity. Reviewers found it maintained composure at louder-than-expected levels and delivered dynamic scale that belies its relatively compact proportions.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
96/100
Construction and finish receive exceptionally consistent praise. Reviewers highlight the anti-resonant lute-shaped cabinet, superbly applied real-wood veneer, leather detailing, concrete plinth and robust outriggers, describing the result as flawlessly made and furniture-grade in appearance.
Value for Money
90/100
At roughly $3,999 per pair, reviewers generally consider the Sonetto III worth its asking price, citing its finish, musicality and performance over the less expensive Lumina V. The premium segment is competitive and some alternatives may sound larger or more immersive, but reviewers still regard its balance, insight and craftsmanship as persuasive reasons to audition it.
