Universal phono stage

Fine-tune your turntable system with the Uphorik phono stage to get more from your vinyl collection.

Sharing the same dual mono topology and fully screened differential input as with Urika, the Uphorik phono stage offers both versatility and exceptional performance.

The most flexible phono stage available, Uphorik features separate dedicated inputs and circuits for moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, and has a full range of adjustments which allows you to easily optimise its settings to any cartridge, should you wish to upgrade in the future.

Uphorik's flexibility also extends to connections. With a choice of balanced or unbalanced outputs, and RCA or XLR inputs, Uphorik is guaranteed to always meet your requirements, no matter how the rest of your system evolves.

Value for Money

89/100

The Linn Uphorik brings vinyl into razor-sharp focus, pairing exceptionally low noise with a neutral, refined balance that exposes texture, space and colour without glare. HiFi Choice found its imaging especially precise, while balanced operation adds muscular body, solidity and dynamic presence. Extensive cartridge adjustment makes this a seriously accomplished phono stage for revealing analogue systems.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"The Uphorik is an outstanding phono stage (suitably partnered) to make you fall in love with vinyl."

— HiFi Choice

Pros

Clean, highly detailed and exceptionally low-noise presentation, with smooth refinement rather than clinical edge.

Outstanding image placement, separation, ambience and depth on complex recordings.

Balanced outputs deliver fuller texture, greater solidity and a larger, more focused soundstage.

Highly adaptable gain, impedance and loading adjustments accommodate cartridge fine-tuning.

Cons

No stereo/mono switch.

Its substantial cost is best justified by an already high-quality turntable, arm and cartridge.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 93/100

HiFi Choice found the Uphorik notably clean, neutral and highly resolving, combining razor-sharp focus with a smooth, refined manner. It also preserved strong spatial cues and musical presence without adding an obvious tonal signature.

Transparency Noise Floor

94/100

The review explicitly praises extremely low background noise alongside crisp, lucid and highly detailed results. It characterises the Uphorik as revealing rather than embellishing, with a cleaner and more refined sound than the comparison stage.

Tonal Balance Musicality

93/100

HiFi Choice describes an impressively neutral, natural and open tonal balance, but not one that sounds sterile or stripped of colour. Smoothness, refinement, solid pitch-defined bass and a sense of musical incident make its analytical strengths easy to live with.

Dynamics

91/100

With appropriate gain selection, the reviewer heard a bigger, more dynamic presentation with bolder tonal colours. Music was said to have amazing presence, purpose and attitude, although the gain recommendation also depends on avoiding overload with unusually high-output moving-coil cartridges.

Soundstage Imaging

94/100

The Uphorik conveyed voice and instrument placement with outstanding accuracy and precision. Complex recordings gained better separation, ambience and depth, indicating especially strong retrieval of recorded space.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Cartridge Compatibility

72/100

The review discusses using the highest gain setting with a moving-coil cartridge, while cautioning that unusually high-output MCs can risk input overload. It provides little detail on MM support, loading choices or the breadth and convenience of cartridge adjustment.

Build Quality

50/100

The supplied review concentrates on listening performance rather than casework, circuitry, shielding, grounding or long-term durability. Reviewers say little about construction quality.

Value for Money

89/100

HiFi Choice acknowledges that £1,850 is a substantial outlay, but considers it a normal price for performance of this calibre. The reviewer also concludes that, despite diminishing returns, the Uphorik delivers plenty of performance for the money.
