Legacy Audio Classic HD
Our Classic HD is designed from the ground up to deliver amazing sound. Great as a front pair in home theater applications; exacting enough for the most critical audiophile. Highs are sweet and clear, vocals are natural and effortless-free of the thin, compressed nasality so common today. Mid-bass has punch, and bass is solid and well defined.
Versatile and Refined Floor Standing Speakers
The Legacy Classic HD speakers are a testament to traditional speaker design with modern flexibility. These Legacy Audio tower speakers are bi-amp/bi-wire capable, allowing you to fine-tune your system for optimal performance. The Classic HD features independent high and low-frequency contour switches, enabling you to adjust the sound to your specific room acoustics. The high-quality cabinetry and a wide variety of finishes make these floor standing speakers as visually stunning as they are sonically impressive.
The Classic HD is a superb choice for both music and home theater.
The rear plate of the Classic HD features removable copper jumpers to facilitate bi-amping or bi-wiring if desired. Independent high and low frequency contour switches allow you to adjust the speaker to your room.
The Legacy 1” dual pole AMT folded ribbon delivers airy and clear highs up to 30 kHz and is the same award-winning Legacy AMT found in the larger Focus & Aeris floor-standing speakers.

Value for Money

The Classic HD combines silky, extended treble with transparent mids, tight bass and the effortless scale of a true high-output tower. Jim Clements found its broad, seamless soundstage and near-compression-free crescendos equally persuasive, making this an especially compelling choice for orchestral music, live recordings and cinematic playback.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Sweet, extended, low-distortion treble stays smooth and fatigue-free during long listening sessions.
Broad, continuous soundstage conveys convincing scale and clearly differentiates direct from reflected sounds.
Strong dynamic headroom handles crescendos with very little compression and can fill large rooms without strain.
Tight, clean bass delivers defined kick drums and substantial film-score impact.

Cons
Ultimate infrasonic bass extension falls short of systems using Legacy’s larger subwoofers.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 95/100
The review finds the Classic HD exceptionally even-handed, pairing transparent voices and a notably sweet AMT treble with substantial, controlled low end. It also portrays the speaker as unusually composed at high levels, able to scale convincingly from intimate vocal recordings to large orchestral works.
Bass
93/100
Bass is described as tight, clean and full, with shapely pulses, a meaty character and convincing kick-drum definition. The reviewer also heard strong slam on film material; the only reservation concerns ultimate infrasonic reach compared with Legacy's larger subwoofer-equipped systems.
Mid
95/100
The midrange is praised for transparency and convincing instrumental timbre. Vocals were heard as pure and free of chestiness, while percussion retained its natural tonal character.
Treble
97/100
Treble is a major strength. The AMT tweeter is called one of the sweetest the reviewer has heard, combining extension and low distortion with a smooth, fatigue-free presentation that remained enjoyable for long sessions.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
The Classic HD produced a broad, continuous soundstage without a gap between the speakers. The review also highlights its ability to distinguish direct from reflected sound and to portray the appropriate scale of both solo performers and full orchestra.
Dynamics
96/100
Despite its smooth character, the Classic HD is reported to be highly dynamic. Crescendos showed nearly no audible compression, and the speakers remained unfazed while filling a room larger than the reviewer's listening space.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
93/100
The reviewer describes the Classic HD as especially well made and expects it to be durable, supported by a seven-year warranty. Its high-gloss, silver-flecked black finish and custom binding-post assembly were also singled out as premium details.
Value for Money
88/100
At the review's quoted starting price of $4,150 per pair, the Classic HD was considered competitively priced. Current listed pricing of roughly $8,000-$9,000 per pair is substantially higher, and the available review does not directly compare it with today's alternatives at that level.
