KEF Kube 8 MIE
8-inch front-firing active subwoofer
The compact Kube 8 MIE may not take up much space, but the bass it delivers is far from small. With an 8-inch driver, it is ideally suited for smaller rooms. By sharing the same 300 Watts Class D amplifier from it's larger siblings, Kube 8 MIE exhibits unprecedented levels of control. With Music Integrity Engine, the Kube 8 MIE is optimised to dynamically extend the bass depth.
Seamless elegance
The sealed cabinet design facilitates optimal placement, while the contemporary design seamlessly blends with the room's decor.

The KEF Kube 8 MIE brings controlled, compact bass to smaller systems, pairing a sealed 8-inch driver with 300W Class-D power for agile low-frequency support. Flexible DSP-driven setup, variable crossover controls and speaker-level inputs make it especially adaptable, while Smart Compression Limiting helps preserve composure at spirited levels. A refined choice for listeners prioritising precision over sheer bulk.
Pros
300W amplification, DSP processing and Smart Compression Limiting are designed to keep the driver operating linearly and prevent amplifier clipping.
Smart Connect, configurable EQ settings and both LFE/stereo connectivity support flexible setup across different rooms and systems.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 81/100
Bass
82/100
Based on the sealed 200 mm driver, 34 Hz (-6 dB) spec, 300 W RMS amp and 105 dB max output. These specs suggest controlled, reasonably deep bass for an 8" sealed unit — good extension and authority for small-room use but not reference-level deep bass. No reviewer extracts provided to confirm subjective tone or extension.
Dynamics
80/100
300 W Class-D amplifier and a compact sealed cabinet point to good transient control and low distortion at typical listening levels; the 105 dB max output implies solid headroom for small to medium rooms. Absence of reviewer comments about slam, compression or transient finesse means this score is derived from specs, not listening reports.

Integration
75/100
Features such as variable low-pass (40–140 Hz + LFE), speaker-level inputs and an expansion port indicate flexibility for matching speakers and placement. Features ≠ Integration; add outcome evidence or lower Integration. With no reviewer outcome language about a "seamless" blend or "disappearing" sub, score is conservative.
Build Quality
83/100
KEF's engineering reputation plus a 9.4 kg sealed cabinet and 8" driver suggest a well-made product with solid cabinet rigidity and finish. No review excerpts describing finish, assembly or long-term reliability were supplied; score reflects expected brand standard rather than inspected evidence.
Features Connectivity
86/100
Good connectivity and usability: RCA inputs, speaker-level inputs, LFE, variable low-pass filter (40–140 Hz) and an expansion port for KW1 make setup flexible across systems and placements. These are strong practical features for matching many speakers and installations; note these are tools, not direct proof of integration outcome.
Value for Money
74/100
At USD 699.99 for an 8" sealed sub, price sits in the mid-to-upper range for compact subs; performance implied by specs is good but not reference-busting, so value is fair-to-good. No reviewer language such as 'no-brainer' or 'best in class' was available to justify a higher rating.
