Focal Theva N°3-D
Dolby Atmos 3-way floor-standing speaker
Theva N°3-D is the reference Dolby Atmos® floorstanding speaker in the Theva range. By combining 3 front channels and a vertical channel that reflects sound waves onto the ceiling, the speaker creates a grandiose spatial effect, reinventing the way music and cinema are experienced in the home and offering a remarkably immersive sound experience. With this Theva N°3-D and its Dolby Atmos® effects, emotion is at the heart of your living room.
SOUND IMMERSION
Action scenes, falling rain, rumbling storms... this loudspeaker with Dolby Atmos® effects transforms the way you experience movies at home. Combined with the Slatefiber membrane and TNF tweeter, two Focal innovations, this technology is the source of immersive, precise and dynamic sound.
DOLBY ATMOS EFFECTS
DolbyAtmos® is a technology developed for audio products. Dolby Atmos®-equipped loudspeakers feature, in addition to their front-mounted drivers, a top-mounted loudspeaker that reflects acoustics throughout the room. This technology isolates each sound from the original soundtrack and the mix as an independent audio object for extremely detailed sound reproduction, all spatialized in 3 dimensions.
REFINEMENT AND SUBTLETY
Theva N°3-D features a delicate, meticulous design that reflects the line's products. Front panel, sleek black or wood finishes, metallized and screen-printed rings, magnetic cloth holder, rear vent positioning: refinement is in every detail.
COMPLETE SYSTEM
For a complete Home Cinema installation and intense movie enjoyment, the loudspeaker combines perfectly with the other products in the line: Theva N°1, Theva N°2, Theva N°3, Theva Center, Theva Surround and the SUB 600P subwoofer.

Value for Money

Focal’s Theva N°3-D delivers a balanced, spacious presentation with mellow, clean treble, precise mids and tightly controlled bass. Its up-firing Atmos module helps build a cohesive overhead soundstage, while Slatefiber drivers bring convincing scale and definition to music and movies. Sound Advice also praises its excellent finish, making this a polished centrepiece for ambitious multichannel systems.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Balanced, controlled sound with precise midrange, mellow clean treble and tight bass.
Cohesive Dolby Atmos performance, with smoothly moving effects and consistent timbre across the matching Theva system.
Excellent build quality, refined finishes, magnetic grilles and substantial, easy-to-use binding posts.
&
Cons
Does not prioritise forensic detail, favouring a smooth and polished presentation instead.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 87/100
The review finds the Theva system balanced, controlled and immersive, with clean tonal integration across demanding music and film material. Much of the listening was conducted with the matching subwoofer and surround speakers, so the deepest bass and surround-stage observations are best read as system performance rather than that of the N°3-D alone.
Bass
87/100
Bass and drums are described as tight, nicely balanced and delivered with pleasing scale. The most extreme low-frequency impact and infrasonic depth are specifically credited to the accompanying subwoofer, so the review offers limited evidence about the N°3-D's deepest standalone extension.
Mid
88/100
The review calls the midrange precise and finds instruments realistically rendered within complex mixes. It also praises the system's tonal balance and ability to keep densely layered material controlled and well defined.
Treble
87/100
Treble is characterised as mellow, clean and free of sibilance, favouring an easy, polished presentation. The reviewer notes a slight shortfall in forensic detail, suggesting refinement over overt analytical bite.
Soundstage Imaging
88/100
The Theva package is praised for a fuller, cohesive soundstage, with effects moving smoothly between speakers and maintaining consistent timbre. Its strongest spatial praise concerns multichannel and Atmos playback, where it creates enveloping, carefully structured soundfields.
Dynamics
87/100
The system handles explosive action material with convincing scale, impact and intensity, while retaining control in busy sound designs. Some of the largest effects are reinforced by the matching subwoofer, but the floorstanders appear to integrate capably within this energetic presentation.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
92/100
The reviewer explicitly describes overall build quality as excellent, with attractive finishes that suit the asking price. The minimalist styling, magnetic grilles and unusually substantial, comfortable binding posts are singled out as thoughtful finishing details.
Value for Money
85/100
At the listed price of 3,198, the review says the build and finishes reflect the asking price, but it does not directly compare the N°3-D with competing floorstanders or make a stronger value claim. The available commentary supports a well-executed premium product rather than a clear bargain verdict.
