Cons
Its high-end pricing and multi-arm upgrade path make it better suited to experienced, committed vinyl enthusiasts than casual users.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 93/100
Fidelity Magazine heard an exceptionally clean, neutral and controlled presentation, with musical detail emerging from a pitch-black background. The reviewed package also kept string intonation firmly in place and rendered musical sequences with striking clarity.
Overall Sound
93/100
Fidelity found the Tornado NEO's presentation notably neutral, without adding artificial colour to vocal timbre. In the reviewed setup, the TA-500 NEO and MCX2 produced musical sequences described as “clear as glass.”
Speed Stability
94/100
The reviewer was particularly impressed by the motor's precision, saying it held string-instrument intonation at exactly the correct pitch. It also prevented musical events from blurring together.
Tonearm Performance
92/100
With Acoustic Signature's TA-500 NEO arm fitted, the reviewer credited the arm and cartridge combination for exceptionally lucid musical sequencing. The deck also accepts 9- to 12-inch arms and can accommodate up to three armboards for more ambitious system building.
Noise Isolation
94/100
The reviewer heard Lachenmann's sound experiments against a pitch-black background, a strong indication of low mechanical and environmental interference in the reviewed installation. Fidelity also highlights how disruptive vibration can mask musical information, making the Tornado NEO's quiet backdrop especially meaningful.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
90/100
Fidelity describes Acoustic Signature's work as grounded in a professional approach to craftsmanship and notes the company's confidence in offering a 15-year warranty. The Tornado NEO's 11kg aluminium platter, precision bearing, thick aluminium chassis and gel-damped feet support that substantial, carefully engineered impression.
Features Usability
85/100
An external DMC-20 controller provides electronic 33⅓/45rpm operation and fine speed adjustment, while its flexible placement can help system layout. The deck's adjustable armboard arrangement and support for up to three tonearms offer unusual flexibility, although this is a specialist machine rather than a plug-and-play turntable.
Value for Money
85/100
At approximately $6,780 to $10,995 depending on configuration, the Tornado NEO occupies a serious high-end price bracket. Fidelity praises the craftsmanship and long warranty, but does not directly compare its price or value against competing turntables.
