Tweeter

Building on the success of our carbon fibre dome on the 500 series, we identified the need to use an even lighter dome for the Corinium to maximise the transient response of the system. So, we searched for a material lighter than carbon fibre and subsequently sourced a new soft dome material. This newly developed tweeter design has now proven to lower coloration, increase delicate high-speed transients and reproduce the very finest detail and refinement.

Mid and Bass Drivers

At the heart of the Corinium is the midrange drive unit. Covering 5 octaves it’s the key element which produces most of the sound from the loudspeaker system. The new carbon fibre cone and surround helps provide specific tonal qualities we were targeting for this speaker… offering the most natural sound and realistic musical performance. The extra width of the Corinium cabinet allowed us to house a slightly larger bass driver. We went back to basics to develop a brand-new bass alignment that combines weight, speed and slam to produce a natural, realistic sound from what’s still a fairly compact loudspeaker system. In conjunction, we developed a brand new 140mm bass driver to produce a big, powerful, controlled and natural bass sound.

Crossover

Optimised for best transient performance, our 3-way crossover blends the power output of each transducer to provide a rich, tonally balanced sound. High quality components are used throughout including air core inductors, metalized polypropylene film capacitors and metal oxide resistors. The crossover is connected to the drive units using audiophile grade internal wiring which features a patented arrangement of conductors to give the best possible musical detail and dynamic expression.

Cabinet

All these ground-breaking new drive unit and crossover developments are housed in a beautifully curved, exquisitely finished inert enclosure. The hybrid ‘Resonance Suppression Composite’ (RSC) cabinets have a minimum thickness of 22mm and vary up to 50mm for optimal performance. The 4° tilt improves the time alignment of sound to listener, whilst the 6mm ultra rigid aluminium front baffle firmly houses the drivers and isolates any cabinet resonances from the listening environment.

Value for Money

95/100

The Corinium pairs velvety tonal richness with startling dynamic speed, casting a broad, deeply layered soundstage while keeping dense bass lines taut and articulate. David Price found its detail, grip and imaging unusually sophisticated, while hi-fi+ praised its emotional fluency and uncompressed high-volume energy. This is a refined, room-friendly flagship that still knows how to thrill.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"It’s also about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on."

— hi-fi+

Pros

Wide, deep and stable imaging keeps instruments convincingly detached from the cabinets.

Fast, controlled dynamics stay composed with dense, high-tempo music and at high playback levels.

Smooth, detailed treble and natural midrange deliver resolution without harshness.

Low end is agile, textured and well integrated, with useful deep-bass extension.

&

Cons

Bass balance is relatively lean in ultimate weight, so some similarly sized rivals sound more substantial at the very bottom end.

Its 4-ohm load benefits from a powerful, high-current amplifier; less robust amplification may not deliver its best.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 95/100

Reviewers consistently describe a highly resolved yet natural and forgiving all-round presentation, combining strong rhythmic energy with tonal sweetness. Its main trade-off is a deliberately leaner low-end balance than some similarly sized rivals, but reviewers repeatedly praise its control, integration, scale and emotional engagement.

Bass

94/100

Several reviewers find the Corinium leaner in ultimate low-bass weight than similarly sized competitors, particularly on the very lowest notes. Even so, they consistently praise deep extension, impressive room pressurisation, speed, texture and unusually precise control; measurements from The Absolute Sound found useful output to just below 30Hz.

Mid

94/100

Vocals and instruments are repeatedly described as natural, weighty and convincingly present, with fine detail preserved without turning analytical. hi-fi+ particularly praises the integration of the upper drivers, while Part Time Audiophile found the midrange warm and tactile.

Treble

94/100

The treble is widely praised for its combination of clarity, air and resolution with sweetness and smoothness. StereoNET reports crisp, fast extension without shrillness or glare, while other reviewers note sparkle and upper-harmonic shimmer that never makes the speaker sound hard.

Soundstage Imaging

96/100

Reviewers are emphatic about the Corinium's broad, deep and stable stage, with images convincingly detached from the cabinets. Reports describe precise layering, believable vocal placement and an immersive presentation that remains composed even at high levels or across a wider listening area.

Dynamics

96/100

The Corinium earns repeated praise for fast transients, rhythmic drive and its ability to stay uncompressed when played loudly. Reviewers describe urgent handling of dense, high-tempo material, substantial power handling and a rare ability to combine speed with scale and composure.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

95/100

The cabinet and driver implementation receive unusually strong praise, with reviewers noting the thick, shaped resonance-control enclosure, matrix bracing and rigid aluminium baffle. Sound Advice considers the cosmetic detailing fully competitive with established alternatives at this price, while The Ear found the cabinet exceptionally quiet and effective at revealing low-level detail.

Value for Money

95/100

At £6,000 per pair in standard finishes, or roughly $7,499-$8,500 depending on finish and market, the Corinium is clearly a premium purchase. Nonetheless, reviewers repeatedly call it unusually capable for the money: The Absolute Sound says it is among the least expensive speakers to do so many things well, while StereoNET calls it one of the strongest mid-price bargains available.
